The spring has flowed since 962 and feeds two rectangular pools lined with spouts. Balinese come for melukat, a purification rite: you step into the water and pass under each spout in order, left to right, praying at every one.
Two of the spouts are for funerary rites and are skipped — they are marked. Visitors may take part if they follow the rule: bathing sarong provided, offering in hand, and nobody jumps the queue.
Getting there
Thirty minutes north of Ubud, at Tampaksiring. Often combined with the Tegallalang rice terraces on the same trip.
What the price covers
adult, sarong included. Child 5 to 12, 50,000 Rp. Locker extra.
What to bring
- Covering clothes
- Swimsuit
- Dry bag
Rules on site
Bring a dry sarong for afterwards: you come out soaked and the changing rooms are basic. Do not put your head under the spout with an open cut — the water is running and shared.
