The temple sits on a sandstone rock cut off from the coast, and the tide decides your visit: at low water you walk across to the foot of the rock, at high water it is an island and you look at it from a distance.
It is one of seven sea temples strung along the south-west coast, each within sight of the next. The rock was eroding and about to give way: a third of what you see today is artificial stone, paid for in the 1980s.
