The bridge opened in 2018 at fourteen hundred metres, on the Ba Na Hills site. It is a hundred and fifty metres long and appears to be carried by two giant stone hands — they carry nothing: the structure is steel, and the hands are fibreglass and mesh, artificially aged to look ancient.
The effect is still striking above the valley, when the cloud stays down. It is very busy: the workable window is the first hour after opening, before the groups arrive by cable car.
Getting there
Thirty-five kilometres west of Da Nang, then the Ba Na Hills cable car, about twenty minutes up.
What the price covers
paid park and cable-car ticket, rate to be confirmed; the bridge is not sold separately
What to bring
- Windbreaker
Rules on site
The cable car ticket covers the whole site and is expensive: the bridge alone does not justify it. The summit is in cloud for much of the year, and it is ten degrees colder than below.

My Khe BeachTwenty miles of straight sand, the beach GIs came to on leave.
Ba Na Hills and the Golden BridgeThe longest cable car in the world leads to a mountaintop park and the bridge carried by two giant hands. Very busy: be there at opening.
- Hai Van Pass by scooterTwenty kilometres of bends between Da Nang and Hue, the sea on one side, the mountain on the other. Check the forecast: the pass takes cloud.
