entry to Than Bok Khorani national park, foreign adult. It is paid in cash to the ranger, and is almost never included in the trip price the agencies advertise.
This amount is on top of the tour price. Checked on 28 August 2026 at Hong Island Krabi — national park fees. Prices change: check before you go.
The Koh Hong group is a cluster of limestone islets north of Ao Nang, inside Than Bok Khorani national park. The main island encloses an almost circular lagoon, opened by a narrow pass: that is the hong, the room, and you enter it by boat at high tide.
Koh Hong's beach is short, white and edged by a drop-off with decent coral for snorkelling. The standard trip strings three or four islets together in the morning, and the groups all arrive around ten.
Getting there
Longtail or speedboat from Nopparat Thara pier, west of Ao Nang. Booking at the port rather than a street agency often costs half as much.
What to bring
- Swimsuit
- Mask and snorkel
- Sunscreen
- Dry bag
How to pay less
The same boat is booked at Nopparat Thara pier, often half the price of the street agencies. In a group, the private trip costs what a seat on a shared one does.
Rules on site
The national park fee is paid in cash to the ranger and is almost never included in the advertised price. In the monsoon, May to October, trips are cancelled on the morning itself in heavy seas.

Tiger Cave Temple: the 1,237 stepsA staircase of 1,237 steps to a temple on a pinnacle, and a full horizon over the province at the top. The climb is steep, uneven, and the monkeys are not shy.
