Klong Muang is the hotel beach north of Ao Nang, separated from it by a headland. Longtails do not land here, there is no excursion desk and no vendors on the sand: which is exactly the point.
The sea stays shallow a long way out, which makes it easy with children and poor at low tide. The view runs to the limestone stacks offshore, and the sunset drops straight down the axis.
Getting there
Twenty minutes by scooter or taxi from Ao Nang. No regular public transport serves the beach.
What to bring
- 1.5 L of water
- Swimsuit
- International driving permit
Rules on site
At low tide the water pulls back hundreds of metres and swimming becomes impossible. Few shops outside the hotels: bring something to drink.
