Angel's Billabong is a natural basin cut into the rock at the ocean's edge, filled with clear water at low tide and swept by waves at high. Broken Beach, two hundred metres away, is a circular collapse linked to the sea by a natural arch: a round, enclosed bay where the waves enter through a tunnel.
The two are visited together, on the same headland. The trip from the port is an hour of difficult road, and that is the main obstacle — Nusa Penida's roads are narrow and broken up, and many hire scooters are in poor condition.
Getting there
West coast of Nusa Penida, an hour by scooter from Toyapakeh. The road is narrow and in poor condition.

Rules on site
Only swim in Angel's Billabong at low tide and in calm seas: waves sweep the basin without warning and people have died there. Check the scooter's brakes and tyres before setting off.
