To confirm
Saigon is eaten sitting on a plastic stool, and the best addresses are neither signposted nor translated. A motorbike tour solves both: the rider takes you where they eat, orders in the language, and explains what is in the bowl.
Five stops in five different districts beat five dishes in one street: you cross Chinatown, District 3, the canal banks. The traffic, seen from the back of a bike, is part of the outing.
Getting there
Pick-up is at your hotel in District 1. The rider provides the helmet.
What the price covers
a tour sold by an operator, rider and helmet included. How many dishes and drinks are actually covered varies from one tour to the next, and no rate is published: have the price broken down before booking.
What to bring
- Helmet
How to pay less
Joining a local neighbourhood group costs a fraction of the English-language tour, for the same round.
Rules on site
Flag allergies and dietary needs when booking, not at the first stop: the menus are set in advance. Check that the helmet you are given actually fastens.
