Nosy Tanikely is an islet south of Nosy Be, a marine national park since 2011. Protection is strict: no fishing, a cap on visitor numbers, regulated anchoring.
The result is visible underwater. The reef holds green and hawksbill turtles grazing a few metres off the sand, parrotfish and rays, and visibility often exceeds fifteen metres. The islet carries a lighthouse and a path that climbs to the top in twenty minutes, with a colony of fruit bats in the trees.
Getting there
An hour by boat from Nosy Be. Day trips, often combined with Nosy Komba.
What the price covers
paid reserve entry plus the boat; rates to be confirmed
What to bring
- Walking shoes
- Mask and snorkel
- Reef shoes
Rules on site
The park fee is paid in cash on arrival, in ariary, and is not always included in the trip price. Do not touch the turtles and keep three metres back: approaching them drives them off and disrupts their feeding.
