Mount Passot rises three hundred and twenty-nine metres and is the highest point on Nosy Be. Around it lie eleven crater lakes, remnants of the island's volcanism.
Those lakes are sacred to the Sakalava: by tradition they hold the spirits of the kings, and prohibitions — fady — apply to them. You do not swim in them, do not fish them, and do not point at them. The summit is the island's sunset point, with the sea visible on every side.
Getting there
In the middle of Nosy Be, half an hour by road from Hell-Ville. Bush taxi or private vehicle.
What to bring

Rules on site
The lakes are sacred and subject to fady: no swimming, no fishing, and no pointing — ask your driver what applies. The road down is unlit.
