Kilim Geoforest Park is a network of channels between limestone stacks covered in mangrove, in north-east Langkawi. The limestone is nearly five hundred million years old, and the archipelago is a UNESCO global geopark — the first in South-East Asia.
The mangrove is a nursery: the stilt roots shelter fry, which explains the density of sea eagles and kites. Some operators feed them to guarantee a show, which is banned and disrupts their behaviour — an operator that does not do it is the right choice.
Getting there
Kilim jetty, in the island's north-east, thirty minutes by car from Pantai Cenang.

Rules on site
Feeding the eagles is banned and disturbs them: ask the operator before booking, and pick one that refrains. Trips are cancelled in thunderstorms, which are common in the late afternoon.
