The Düden river falls straight into the Mediterranean from a forty-metre cliff — that is the Lower Düden, at Lara, and it is a rare case: most rivers end in an estuary.
The Upper Düden, a few kilometres inland, is a different thing: a drop of some twenty metres in a park, with a path running behind the curtain of water. The flow depends on the season and on agricultural abstraction, and it can be thin in late summer.
Getting there
Lower Düden: the Lara park lookout, ten minutes by taxi from the centre. Upper Düden: ten kilometres north-east, by bus from the centre.
What to bring
- Walking shoes
Rules on site
The two falls are kilometres apart and are not seen from the same place: decide which before you set off. The flow is weak in late summer.
