The path follows a grassy ridge between two rivers, the East and West Wos, for about two kilometres. The name campuhan refers precisely to their confluence, held to be a place of purification.
It is the only walk in Ubud that escapes the traffic entirely: no scooters, no road, just a metre-wide concrete path between tall grass. It climbs gently and ends at a hamlet, from where you return the same way or by road.
Getting there
Starts behind Gunung Lebah temple, at the bottom of Jalan Raya Campuhan, ten minutes on foot from central Ubud.
What to bring
- Walking shoes
- 1.5 L of water
- Cap
- International driving permit
Rules on site
There is no shade along the whole ridge: after eight it gets very hot and the walk loses its point. The path is narrow and hard to pass on at busy times.
