Tiu Kelep is a forty-metre waterfall at the foot of the Rinjani massif, in the jungle above Senaru. It falls in a fan against a concave wall, which throws permanent spray into the pool.
It is reached by a half-hour path that fords the river several times and follows an old irrigation channel, partly through a tunnel. The neighbouring Sendang Gile falls, easier to reach, are on the same route — the two are done together.
Getting there
At Senaru, in northern Lombok, two hours by road from Mataram or an hour from Bangsal.
What the price covers
paid site entry and a compulsory local guide, rates to be confirmed
What to bring
- Walking shoes
- Headlamp
- Swimsuit
Rules on site
The path fords the river and becomes dangerous after heavy rain: turn back if the flow is high. A local guide is required at the entrance, and the fee should be agreed before setting off.
