The Tamraght souk is a weekly market, not a permanent one: it is held on a fixed day each week, and the villages of the coast and the interior meet there to buy and sell.
It is a subsistence market, with no souvenir stalls: vegetables, live chickens, tools, secondhand clothes, mint by the bunch. You watch the coast's real economy at work, which is the exact opposite of what the Taghazout shops offer, and that is why it is worth the trip.
Getting there
At Tamraght, three kilometres south of Taghazout. On foot along the coast road, or by shared taxi.
Rules on site
The souk runs one day a week: ask your accommodation which day, as it varies between villages. Photographing the traders must be asked, and is often refused.
