Anchor Point is a right-hand point break over a rock bottom, north of Taghazout. On a good winter swell the wave runs several hundred metres from the point into the bay, and it is one of the longest rights in Africa.
The name comes from a ship's anchor left on the reef. The spot was found by Australian and European surfers at the end of the 1960s, and that is what turned Taghazout, then a fishing village, into the capital of Moroccan surfing.
Getting there
Two kilometres north of Taghazout, walkable along the coast road or a short taxi ride.
What to bring

Rules on site
This is an experienced surfer's wave: rock bottom, a rocky entry, and a strict pecking order in the line-up. Beginners go to Panorama or Croco Beach next door, which break over sand.
