The structure, delivered in 2011, is a hundred and fifty metres long and twenty-six high, in glued laminated timber — one of the largest ever built in wood. Sevillians call it las Setas, the mushrooms, and the reception was rough: the works cost three times the budget.
They also ran six years over, because the foundations uncovered a Roman and Almohad quarter. The basement museum presents it in situ, and the winding rooftop walkway circles the city at bell-tower height.
Getting there
Plaza de la Encarnación, ten minutes on foot from the cathedral. The lift to the walkway is on the lower level, east side.
Hours
9.30am – 1am, last access 12.15am; the Aurora show runs 9.30pm – 1am, April to October
What the price covers
the general experience, from 16 €: the 360° walkway, the "Feeling Sevilla" film and the "Aurora" light show. The combined ticket with the flamenco tablao starts at 48 €. The square and the covered passage below stay free, and the basement archaeological museum has its own ticket.
What to bring
- 1.5 L of water
- Cap
Rules on site
The walkway ticket and the archaeological museum ticket are separate. There is no shade on the roof and the timber holds the heat: in summer, evenings only.
