The Port Moselle market fills blue-roofed hexagonal halls beside the marina. It opens Tuesday to Sunday at first light and closes around noon.
It reflects Nouméa's make-up: the fish stalls sell the lagoon's catch, Kanak growers bring yams and taro, and the food halls serve bougna — the Kanak dish cooked underground in banana leaves — alongside Vietnamese bo bun and French pastries. Saturday morning is the busiest.
Getting there
Beside the Port Moselle marina, in central Nouméa. Ten minutes on foot from Place des Cocotiers.

Tuesday to Sunday, mornings only

Rules on site
The market closes around noon, and all day on Monday: coming in the afternoon means finding the halls empty. Prices in New Caledonia are high, since almost everything is imported.
