Cho Dam is Nha Trang's central market, under a circular concrete hall built in the 1970s and rebuilt since. It spreads well beyond the hall into the surrounding lanes, on two levels.
The ground floor holds the fresh produce — fish from the bay, herbs, fruit — and the upper floor textiles and hardware. What you come for is the food alley at the back: bun cha ca, the fish-cake noodle soup that is the city's dish, served for a few tens of thousands of dong.
Getting there
North of the centre, fifteen minutes on foot from the beach along Nguyen Hong Son street.
Rules on site
The aisles are narrow and loaded scooters cut through them: keep to the side. Pickpocketing is common at busy times — bag in front.
