Carmel Market

The Shuk HaCarmel is Tel Aviv's largest street market, running several hundred metres from the Magen David junction. It works as a neighbourhood market: people genuinely shop there.
The rule of the place is timing. Friday morning is the most intense — everyone buys before shabbat — and prices collapse in the last hour, when the stalls have to clear before a two-day closure. The market shuts early on Friday afternoon and stays closed all Saturday.
Getting there
From the Magen David junction, at Allenby and King George streets. Fifteen minutes on foot from Rothschild Boulevard.
Hours
Closed Saturday
Rules on site
Closed all Saturday and from early Friday afternoon. The aisles are very crowded on Friday morning and pickpocketing is common.
