Łazienki Park covers seventy-six hectares and was laid out in the eighteenth century by Stanisław August, the last king of Poland, as a summer residence. The Palace on the Isle is built across a pond, on an artificial island: it takes its name from the baths that occupied the building before it was converted.

Peacocks roam the park and squirrels come to feed from the hand. From mid-May to late September, free Chopin concerts are given every Sunday at the foot of the composer's monument, at midday and four.

Getting there

On the Royal Route, south of the centre. Metro to Politechnika, or buses 116 and 180 from the old town.
