To confirm
Nang Yuan is a group of three granite islets a kilometre north-west of Koh Tao, joined by a double sandbar that the sea barely covers. You walk from one island to the next with water on both sides.
The whole place belongs to a single owner, who charges a landing fee and sets his own rules. The coral drop-off to the north is one of the best snorkelling spots in the region, reachable from the sand without a boat.
Getting there
Longtail shuttle from Sairee or Mae Haad, ten to fifteen minutes. Departures are frequent in the morning and thin out in the afternoon.
What the price covers
a landing fee is charged on arrival, rate to be checked on site
Rules on site
Plastic bottles are banned ashore and confiscated at the jetty: decant before you leave. Do not walk on the coral along the sandbar — it is alive.
