To confirm
The Kawasan falls, near Badian in south-west Cebu, form three successive levels of turquoise pools in the jungle. The colour comes from calcium carbonate dissolved out of the limestone by the river.
The site is the finish of the Badian canyoneering route: three to four hours down the gorge upstream, with jumps, natural slides and swimming. That activity is what made the place famous — and it demands a serious operator, helmet and buoyancy vest, because the jumps have caused injuries.
Getting there
Three hours by road south-west of Cebu City, near Badian. Bus from the south terminal, then a motorbike taxi.
What the price covers

Rules on site
Canyoneering is done with a helmet and buoyancy vest, and never after heavy rain: flash floods are the gorge's main danger. The jumps are optional — an operator who pushes you to jump is the wrong one.
