The Aïn Diab corniche runs several kilometres west of the Hassan II mosque, along the Atlantic. It grew up in the 1930s as a seaside district, with its seawater pools and beach clubs.
It is where Casablanca goes out: families walk it at the end of the day, cafés and restaurants line up facing the ocean, and the shrine of Sidi Abderrahmane, on its rocky islet, can be reached on foot at low tide.
Getting there
West of the Hassan II mosque, fifteen minutes by petit taxi from the centre. Tram line 2 serves the lower end of the corniche.
Rules on site
Swimming in the Atlantic is dangerous away from patrolled beaches: strong currents and shorebreak, with few lifeguard posts. Many beach clubs charge for access and set a minimum spend.
