The metropolitan natural park covers two hundred and thirty-two hectares of dry tropical forest inside the city limits — one of the few capitals in the world to keep any.
Four short trails run through it, including the Cienguita and the Mono Titi. You see sloths, titi monkeys, toucans and agoutis, and the lookout takes in the canal and the downtown towers in one frame. The wildlife shows itself early in the morning, and very little after ten.
Getting there
Avenida Juan Pablo II, ten minutes by taxi from downtown. The gate and the visitor centre are in the same place.

Rules on site
The wildlife only shows between opening and nine or ten: coming in the afternoon means walking through an empty forest. Repellent is essential, and the trails turn to mud in the rainy season.
