The fall drops around a hundred metres into a volcanic gorge entirely covered in forest, on the cross-island road that crosses Upolu north to south.
You do not go near it: there is no path and no access to the foot of the fall, only a lookout at the roadside. It is a ten-minute stop on a journey, not a destination — and it is worth the look above all after rain, when the flow fills the whole face.
Getting there
On the Cross Island Road, about twenty minutes south of Apia. The lookout is signposted and reached by car.
What to bring
- Walking shoes
Rules on site
The lookout is often in cloud, and the fall then disappears entirely. There is no access to the base: do not go looking for a path into the gorge.
