Little Adam's Peak owes its name to its profile's resemblance to Adam's Peak, the pilgrimage summit in the centre of the country — much smaller and much easier.
The climb takes forty-five minutes on an even path through the tea plantations, with steps near the end. The summit ridge has three successive humps, and the last looks out over Ella Gap, a notch in the mountain chain through which you see all the way to the coastal plain, a thousand metres below.
Getting there
Starts fifteen minutes' walk from Ella centre, along the Passara road then a track through the plantations.
What to bring
- Walking shoes
- Swimsuit
Rules on site
The path crosses working tea plantations: stay on the track and pick nothing. The paid swing at the top is a private installation, not a public viewpoint.
