Jomtien starts beyond Pratumnak hill and runs six kilometres south. It is the beach of families and long-term foreign residents, where Pattaya bay to the north belongs to the bars and the boat trips.
The sand is wider, the water clearer, and the back promenade holds an unbroken line of food stalls and windsurf hire. The southern end, towards Na Jomtien, empties completely on weekdays.
Getting there
Baht bus from Pattaya, a few tens of baht: it runs down Second Road then crosses Pratumnak hill.
Rules on site
Jet skis are hired by the quarter-hour, and disputes over invented damage on return are a local classic: photograph the machine from every angle before setting off.
