In short
Victoria Falls are one thousand seven hundred metres wide and one hundred and eight high. They are shared between Zambia and Zimbabwe, and the two sides do not show the same thing.
Devil's Pool, a natural basin on the very lip of the fall, is reachable only from the Zambian side and only when the flow is low.
What it really costs
Livingstone is cheaper than Victoria Falls town, its Zimbabwean twin, for both accommodation and eating out.
Each side has its own entry fee, and the KAZA UniVisa lets you cross from one to the other without paying for a visa each time. It is the simplest saving of the trip.
What nobody tells you
The flow changes everything and varies tenfold across the year. At full flood, March to May, the spray is such that you see nothing and get soaked; at low water, October to December, the Zambian side can be nearly dry.
Devil's Pool only opens from roughly August to January, depending on the level. Coming in April for it means coming for nothing.
The Zimbabwean side gives the frontal, panoramic view; the Zambian side gives proximity and the bridge. Doing both is the norm.
